"The Shower" was originally published in Voices 27 September 2005



Second one. I hope the archive works. I also made this one a little bigger,
since I really didn't like how I sized the first one, which shall be henceforth
known as "The Slug."

Though also inspired by real life, the incident depicted here didn't actually
happen, though it came pretty close on more than one occasion. This strip marks
the first appearance of Joe and Fred's mother, without whom the house would
collapse inside two days. She's having a bad hair day right now.

Since Life with Brother was originally aimed at a local audience,
hidden in the first panel is an in-joke just for those beloved people. About the
time this was published, the township I lived in decided to raise the water rate
or something like that a good 35%, just for those families whose teenaged
members spent at least a half hour in that shower. Rant over.
